Paper Flowers

I was thinking of what to do for a spring themed page I wanted to incorporate on my SmashBook, and I decided that I wanted to paint some flowers with my acrylic paints. I realized a little late that I didn't really have any white paper (I've been meaning to buy some but I forget!) so I took a piece of double sided cardstock paper and began to work.
Materials used for this project: Double sided cardstock paper by Pebbles, stapler, tape, acrylic paint (white, yellow, purple, and green), paint brushes, scissors.
I gathered my supplies and put a piece of newspaper on my desk to protect it. I started by painting the background in white so that I could have a clean canvas, and then I draw the shape of the flowers. I did 4 purple flowers and a yellow one. I also painted green along one side to create the stem and drew some leaves.

After that, I outlined the flowers and leafs and cut them out. To assemble the whole thing I placed the flowers on the stem and stapled them. Then I sort of scattered the leafs along the stem and here's the finished product:

In the end, I decided to layer two of the smaller flowers together as well as the yellow and purple flowers. I will definitely use this for my spring theme page.

See you next time,

Sharing my Smashbook

I only recently got into smashbooks about 2 or 3 months ago. I love them because they are really cute and kind of easy to use. The decorated pages take away the blank page fear that you may get while you do your layouts. I currently have 3 SmashBooks: The Retro Style (blue), the doodle style (red), and the pink one.

I am currently using the pink one and still have some pages to finish it, but I will share with you some of my favorite ones.

This is my Hello Kitty spread. I LOVE Hello Kitty so much, she's my favorite Sanrio character and I just had to make a page (well 2) about her.

For the background, I left it as it was (a grid pattern with some flowers on it), and then I added different pictures or stickers I had of her. I gathered some packaging I had from stuff I've bought that was Hello Kitty themed like a page from a notebook a friend gave me, a picture that came with a bedspread I bought, a little cardboard cut out from a happy meal, a page from a coloring book, and other things.

I decided to not do a lot on these pages since I really like them by themselves. On the first one, I just added a quote and a magazine cutout.

On the second one I outlined the letters with different colored markers and drew some eyes at the bottom that I also decorated with markers, then I just colored the entire page with a pink color pencil.

I also kept these two pages very simple.

For this page, I added a piece of red cardstock paper at the top and layered a magazine picture on top of it.

Here is a close up of the origami heart I made on the second page. For this page, I just added some cardstock paper with blue and white stripes and wrote the lyrics for Pompeii by Bastille. I also made the origami heart and colored in the triangles made by the folds I made.

For these two pages I took pictures from clothing catalogs or magazines and just made a collage, I used my alphabet washi tape for the title on the side. As you can see I split the middle picture in 2 because it was too big for any of the sides.

These are just a few pages from my smashbooks I will upload more as I make them, and I plan on doing some process videos as well.

I hope you enjoyed this or were inspired to create your own :) Have a great day!

Introductory Post

Hi there!

So I have always wanted to have a blog; a place where I could share my creations. I did have one (still do) but for some reason I never used it, I mean I started using it and then I stopped. Then I created a new one and the same thing happened, I guess I'm not good at sticking to things like this.

I love art, in any and all forms; music, literature, drawings, paintings, sculptures. I consider myself an artist because of the things I like to do like writing, drawing, scrapbooking. Is for that reason that I want to share my creations with the world.

I have to admit that I was (am) nervous about this, you see I am very insecure person and often think that what I do is not worth sharing with others, but I know I'm somewhat good.

Aside from sharing what I create I will be sharing tips, tricks, DIY, tutorials, and other things that might help anybody out there who wants to dive into the world of art.

I hope I can keep this blog going and share everything I do on it, also I hope to inspire everyone who visits my blog, and make them see that you don't need a lot of things to make art.

Best wishes,
Selene Ledezma
